Eugene Avontuur was a member of the Students Representative Council at school and always believed in equality. Since the dawn of democracy, he expresses that he was blessed to have met and have a conversation with the GREAT Walter Sisulu. A man with impeccable integrity from whom he learnt a lot from his stories he shared with Eugene at the time. 

Eugene has been a junior soccer coach for more than 40 years and served on various executives to ensure that the administration structures of football were always running smoothly. For the past 7 years he served on the School Governing Body of Kenmere Primary School in Kensington.

Through his work Eugene deals with many people of all walks of life and enjoys challenges in order to empower them when the chips are down. Even though he has never been in politics, he has an interest in it due to the legacies of the past.
